noise3D enables commercial and industrial users to assess noise levels with the latest available propagation programs, without having to purchase expensive software. Instead, the 3D modeling software SketchUp® is used as interface. You can use your own planning documents, such as scanned maps for digitization, or transfer of data from OpenStreetMap for a simpler option.
Description of the Calculation Method
The calculations are performed with the calculation engine of our approved program MAPANDGIS ( www.kramer-schalltechnik.de ). Basis for the development of the program is ISO 9613-2 “Attenuation of sound propagation outdoors” – Part 2: “General method of calculation”. It may alternatively be calculated depending on the frequency, in octave band, or with a selectable main frequency. All necessary model elements are mapped.
object types (note, examples):
Free point source (jackhammer)
Point source in front of buildings (wall fan)
Point source on the roof (supply air, exhaust air, fireplace)
Line source (pipe)
Road (truck movements)
Horizontal surface source (parking, indoor roof)
Vertical surface source (gate window)
Building
Sound screen (also oblique)
3D reflector
Cantilever roof (carport, gas station roof)
Bridge
Vegetation (forest) Contour
Immission
Use Area (Area designation corresponding TA noise)
Soil properties (for frequency-dependent soil absorption)
Calculation area
model properties (partial list):
Reflections (repeats)
Diffraction over obstacles, lateral flexion
Directivity
Automatic separation of surface and line sources
Solid angle index
Digital Terrain Model
Consideration of exposure
Automatic interpolation of contour lines
Automatic adjustment of the terrain objects (eg line and area sources)
Consideration of mitigation measures
Calculation of meteorological attenuation
Calculation results can be presented in clear tables, or as colored noise maps. The noise maps can be imported into the 3D graphics of the SketchUp® model.
